Let me "renew" a question
Sometimes I want to ask a question that's already been asked that doesn't have enough answers or I'm still interested in new answers to a question I've asked.
But it's weird to answer an old question that was posted a long time ago. I think it might help generate new answers if people could show interest in an old question.
You could update the time stamp when someone votes on the question or add (last voted on.. ). Or even add a new feature that does something similar "userA is interested in new answers". Overloading the vote might be a… more

fabulous idea! We’ve been wrestling with ways to show off old questions (and great answers) more… and you’ve given us some good ideas here. Thanks!

add the option to save a post for later
Sometimes, I'm writing a response to a question and I need to quit the app before I'm done. Or, I have the start of a response but want to think about it some more. Or, I start to write my long and wonderfully detailed answer and IE decides to choke - bye bye answer! Please give me the option to save a draft of my response and then post it at a later date.
Give two buttons - POST and SAVE FOR LATER. If the user has put a response in his SFL "cart," he can access the cart and… more

Reorganize the topics tab.
It's a little difficult to search under the topics tab. The screen is too cluttered. Maybe write out the alphabet and have all topics that start with that letter listed right under it. As you get more and more topics, it is just going to get messier using the format that it is in currently.

Great point. Thanks for the suggestion!

Classifieds section
It would be nice if there was a classifieds section. As a new parent, there is a lot of things my baby has grown out of and even a lot more that I need to buy. It would be nice for there to be a space where you can buy and sell (or give) within an online community that you trust.

is there a "delete" feature for when I've posted in the wrong place?
A "delete" or "Edit" feature for when I need to fix a mistaken post or comment.

There is currently an “edit” link that you should be able to see for any question you’ve asked or answer you’ve posted. (Not for comments, sorry!)
If the [edit] link is not appearing, let us know.
As far as “delete”, at first glance, seems like a capability maybe only moderators should have because the site’s goal is to archive as much quality content as possible. Perhaps we need a mechanism to contact a moderator and request a delete? Will consider this.
UPDATE: We’ve been discussing this. It seems like occasions will arise when a user wants to delete a post – either it was posted mistakenly, or the user no longer agrees with the point, whatever. Our current thought is: users should have the ability to delete their own posts (probably by clicking “edit” first and having a delete option on the edit page).
However, if the deleted post… more

Improve the main menu's submenus
Hi Andrea and Steve. This is Willie Wheeler. :-) One minor suggestion is to situate the submenus directly under the menu item.

Great idea – annoying huh? We have a redesign coming out shortly, hopefully very shortly, that at least makes this problem different. Hopefully better. Let us know.

a way to filter location-specific questions
Some questions are location-specific (e.g. "what is your favorite playground in this or that city?").
It would be great to have a way to filter/sort these questions by location.1 voteplanned ·AdminAndrea Klein Lacy (Admin, Parents Guild) responded
This is a great idea, thanks!
In all honesty, we’re going to wait a bit to implement it though because, at the moment, most of our members are in the bay area (which we think is a fine way to grow initially) and we don’t want to add too many “features” (aka extra steps, extra cognitive load) before we need to.

There’s a way to do this now on the site, in part. You can follow individual threads even without posting to them by clicking the “Follow this thread” link under the question body.
Don’t have a way yet to follow all the activity of another user, but we’re considering it.

add a scrolling window of all the questions
there are great questions that were asked a long time ago. the only way to find them is to scroll through the long list. it would be nice to have a way for older questions to see the light of day again and get some more attention.
1 voteI understand the intent here – surface oldies but goodies, they’re getting lost right now – but I don’t understand the specific suggestion.
What does “add a scrolling window of all the questions” mean?

let me post an "answer" even if no question has been asked
A user shared this idea earlier this week - she said she was coming up with great ideas, new learnings, great new products, that she wanted to share with the parents guild user base, but there was no question that currently needed her "answer". She didn't want to necessarily create a question just so she could answer it, and suggested that there be a way to just post something to the queue without needing to create both a question and answer.
Does anyone else have the desire to do this? If yes, vote it up!

We actually were planning to use email address at one point and skip the username entirely, but then we went with the fastest thing to launch using our development framework. We’re planning to look at this again when we implement Open Id or Facebook Connect, and at that time, we’ll hopefully have an opportunity to switch to email addresses.
